David Davila is set to direct the upcoming reading of Nilsa Reyna’s LEGENDS OF TEXAS for Lone Star Theatre. The new play is part of the on-going Texas Reads series at Lone Star Theatre Co that helps to develop new plays by Texas writers.
Nancy, is a gun-reform activist in New York who has just inherited her father’s gun shop in South Texas. When she returns to “El Valle” to put his affairs in order and turn the gun shop into a cafe, she is met with opposition at every turn from her father’s new wife, her gun-toting sister, and her ex-boyfriend who now manages it. What could possibly go wrong?
Leading the cast as Nancy is playwright Nilsa Reyna. Joining her are Lillian Andrea de Leon, Alexandra Castro, Bryn Packard, Paul Pakler, and Jacqui Rêgo.
The reading is September 19th at Jack Dempsey’s 33rd St at 7pm with a reception to follow. For tickets click here: Legends of Texas Reading.
This play was developed through the Robert Askins Playwright Fellowship at Lone Star Theatre Co.
